August Pfluger, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 11th district since 2021, has shared his perspectives on several pressing issues through recent social media posts. Pfluger replaced Mike Conaway in Congress and continues to address significant policy matters.
On June 5, 2025, Pfluger expressed concerns regarding the Inflation Reduction Act’s impact on the biotechnology sector. He stated that “The Inflation Reduction Act has failed in many aspects, including its small biotech exemption that disincentivizes companies from reinvesting in R&D.” To address these issues, he announced the introduction of the Small Biotech Innovation Act alongside Senator Bill Cassidy and Representative David Kustoff.
Later that day, Pfluger addressed a security concern related to an attack in Boulder. He declared via social media: “This is unacceptable.” He noted his request for the suspect’s alien file from the Department of Homeland Security as part of an investigation into what he described as a “heinous Boulder attack.” Additionally, he mentioned plans to lead a hearing focused on antisemitic terror threats and criticized the Biden-Harris administration for failing the American people.
In another post on June 5, 2025, Pfluger discussed efforts to combat spam and scam calls during a House Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing. He highlighted the potential dangers these calls pose by stating: “For healthcare professionals, scam or spam calls can impede a critical call from the emergency room.”
August Pfluger was born in Houston, Texas in 1978 and currently resides in San Angelo at age 44.
