Representative August Pfluger, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 11th District since 2021, recently addressed the ongoing flooding crisis affecting Central and West Texas through a series of public statements on social media. Pfluger, born in Houston in 1978 and currently residing in San Angelo, provided updates on evacuation orders, disaster recovery efforts, and community responses following significant flood events.
On July 13, 2025, Rep. Pfluger relayed an official evacuation order for San Saba due to rising floodwaters. He quoted Judge Fauley’s directive: “Judge Fauley has officially ordered a mandatory evacuation for San Saba as flood levels are forecasted to rise to 31.5′ this evening. Please take this seriously as the river is rising faster than it did on July 4. Judge Fauley has said that all homes that were damaged last” (posted July 13, 2025).
On July 14, 2025, Pfluger announced support services for affected residents by highlighting the opening of a disaster recovery center in San Angelo: “A disaster recovery center is opening tomorrow in San Angelo to offer face-to-face help to anyone who has been affected by these devastating floods. The center will be at Concho Valley Transit Annex, and will be open from noon to 6 pm.” (posted July 14, 2025).
On July 15, 2025, Rep. Pfluger shared his participation with other lawmakers in a moment of silence at Congress honoring those lost during the flooding earlier in the month: “Today, I stood alongside the Texas delegation and my colleagues in the 119th Congress for a moment of silence to honor the precious lives lost in the devastating floods that swept through Central and West Texas on July 4th. Texans come together in adversity; it is what we do.” (posted July 15, 2025).
August Pfluger succeeded Mike Conaway as representative of Texas’s 11th district and continues to reside in San Angelo while serving his constituents.
