C. Mark Maloney, 75, peacefully passed away on September 16, 2025, at his family home in Midland, Texas. Born on October 24, 1949, in Seminole, Mark was the son of Claude C. “Cy” Maloney Jr. and Rose Ann “Randy” Maloney. Following his graduation from Midland High School in 1967 and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, Mark built a successful career as an independent landman in the oil and gas industry, upholding a family tradition.
Beyond his professional success, Mark was an enthusiastic outdoorsman with a particular passion for bird hunting. He enjoyed this activity as a family pastime with loved ones and close friends, finding joy in the camaraderie of nature. Known for his sharpshooter skills and adventurous spirit, Mark cherished the moments spent in the great outdoors.
Mark was preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann Marek Maloney and his parents, Cy and Randy Maloney. He is survived by his son Sean Dylan Maloney, his aunt Mary Maloney Hughes, and numerous relatives from both the Maloney and Robertson families. Mark’s legacy lives on through the deep connections he maintained with his close-knit family and faithful companion, Rhodes.
In honor of his wishes, Mark will be cremated, with a private family memorial service planned to celebrate his life. The family expresses gratitude to all who supported Mark, including his devoted friends and caregivers. In memory of Mark Maloney, the family suggests making donations to Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter in Bozeman, Montana.
Mark Maloney will be dearly remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, and the lasting impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of integrity, passion, and love will remain a cherished memory for all who were touched by his life.
