Midland, Texas – David Wayne Harris, lovingly known as Dewayne, entered eternal life on August 31, 2025, surrounded by his family in Midland, Texas. Born on August 14, 1950, to George Gerald and Lester Lee Rhodes, Dewayne led a life marked by dedication, honesty, and joy.

A proud graduate of Midland High School, Class of 1968, Dewayne served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany and San Diego. Following his military service, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over three decades until his retirement.

Dewayne’s straightforward nature, genuine spirit, and love for simple pleasures like WWE Wrestling and music by Tina Turner endeared him to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering presence.

Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dewayne is survived by his sisters, Willie Mae Jackson and Paula Davis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
