Weatherford, TX – Edith Florence Townsend, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and teacher, entered her eternal home on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026. Edith’s life was marked by love, service, and a deep dedication to her faith. Despite battling Alzheimer’s disease for over a decade, she faced her struggles with grace and dignity.
Born on August 5, 1941, in Weatherford, Texas, to Haskel and Winona Williamson, Edith spent her early years in a military family, with fond memories of life in Panama and later in El Paso. She graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and embarked on a teaching career that spanned various locations, culminating in Lewisville, TX.
Survived by her daughters Celeste Rogers, Camille Landis, and Charlotte Hunt, as well as their spouses and numerous grandchildren, Edith also leaves behind siblings, nieces, and nephews. She is remembered with love by her family.
The Townsend family expresses gratitude to the staff at Cimmaron Place Assisted Living, Midland Medical Lodge, and UT Southwestern for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Watoto Children’s Choirs.
A visitation will take place at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15th, with a memorial service following on Saturday, May 16th, at 11:30 a.m. at the same location.
