For the first quarter of 2026, Focused Care at Midland ranked as the county’s third largest nursing facility, sharing this position with Focused Care at Hogan Park, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Records indicate the nursing facility offered 106 available beds, one more than the Midland County average at the time. The facility provided care to an average of 79.4 residents during the quarter.
The center earned an overall CMS rating of 2 out of 5, which trails the Texas statewide nursing home average of 2.7.
Among other Midland County nursing homes during the period, Ashton Medical Lodge was the largest with 144 beds, while Midland Medical Lodge placed second with 125 beds.
Focused Care at Midland incurred $9,113 in total fines and was penalized once as of the first quarter of 2026.

The population of older adults in the United States continues to climb while younger demographic groups shrink, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates. From 2020 to 2024, Americans aged 65 and older grew by 13% as those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Since 1920, the country’s older adult population has surged from 4.9 million to over 61 million by 2024.
Nearly half of individuals in this older age group, about 28 million people, may need long-term services and support, according to a 2021 study. The research also projects that more than a third could eventually require nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
