Midland – Hisako Sasaki Futrell, aged 90, born on June 15, 1935, in Tokyo, Japan, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at her home in Midland, TX.
Hisako retired in 2013 after 42 years as a bartender at the Petroleum Club of Midland, where she was cherished by many, including notable figures such as President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. She was known for her love of fishing, travel, cooking, and her straightforward manner, which endeared her to all who knew her.
Survived by her daughter, Clara Satterfield, and grandchildren Shawn Scott and Hope Gilbert, as well as daughters Carolyn Quine and Patricia Wingo, Hisako leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband, Donald Dee Futrell, and others, Hisako will be remembered by pallbearers at her service. The family extends thanks to Hospice of Midland, Triple L, hospital staff, friends, and family for their support.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 18th, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, with a graveside service on Friday, September 19th, at Resthaven Memorial Park.
