In Memoriam: Honoring the Legacy of Hal Dean, Former Los Angeles Rams Left Guard, on His Death Anniversary (February 12)

Hal Stone Dean, left guard for the Los Angeles Rams, died on February 12, 2011. Born in Wooster, Ohio, he attended Ohio State and served in WWII, earning two Bronze Stars. In the NFL (1947-1949), he played for the Rams and attended Stanford in the off-season. Hal then pursued an oil and gas career, settling in Midland in 1960. He explored with the Petroleum Corporation, later becoming an independent geologist. Inducting a teammate into the Hall of Fame, Hal also contributed to Ohio State and Stanford. A Sunday School teacher, he married twice and returned to Midland, where he passed away, leaving a legacy in football and geology.
