The Midland Education Foundation recognized the highest-achieving graduating seniors from Midland Independent School District at its annual Shining Stars Breakfast on April 24. The event celebrated students’ academic excellence and awarded scholarships to support their future educational goals.
The recognition highlights the achievements of the Top 10 students from both Midland High School and Legacy High School, as well as the valedictorians from Young Women’s Leadership Academy and Early College High School, and the honor student from Coleman High School. Students attended with their parents and were acknowledged for their academic accomplishments, leadership, and dedication.
Anita Gamertsfelder, Director of the Midland Education Foundation, said, “At the Midland Education Foundation, we believe in celebrating and investing in student success. Through these scholarships, we are not only celebrating their achievements but also investing in the incredible potential they carry into the future.”
Scholarships were provided through contributions from organizations including the J Roberts Jones Charitable Trust, Pevehouse Family Foundation, and others. Dr. Stephanie Howard, Superintendent of Midland ISD, said during her remarks: “Today, we celebrate more than academic achievement. We celebrate resilience, determination, and the bright promise our top graduates carry into the future. I could not be more proud of who they are and who they are becoming, and I have no doubt they will go on to lead, serve, and make a lasting impact wherever their journeys take them.”
The Shining Stars Breakfast serves as an annual reminder of both student talent within Midland ISD and how community partnerships can strengthen public education by providing additional resources for students.
