Midland Independent School District announced on April 1 that enrollment is now open for the 2026-27 school year. The district said this period is available to all students, including those applying for pre-kindergarten or starting kindergarten, new students to Midland ISD, and returning students.

The enrollment process matters because it ensures the district has current information on every student and helps families prepare for the upcoming academic year. Returning students are required to re-enroll using their Skyward Family Access account.

Families can begin by visiting midlandisd.net/enroll, which serves as a portal to enrollment and application tools. The website offers step-by-step instructions on how to enroll using Skyward and features a built-in Google translator to assist users of different languages. Adrian Garcia, Director of Student Information Systems, said, “We continue to make adjustments in an effort to make the process as easy as possible for parents. It is essential that parents complete these online forms, so the district has the most current information for every student. To assist with this, we have easy-to-follow instructions to keep the process simple.”

Applications can be completed with a smartphone; however, using a tablet or computer may make reading and completing forms easier. Computer stations are available at campuses for families who need assistance.

Choice School applications remain open throughout the year without closing dates. Students living outside Midland ISD boundaries are eligible to apply; this opportunity especially targets those living north of Lone Star Trails neighborhood. Out-of-district transfer applicants must provide attendance and discipline records along with proof of residency outside MISD boundaries. These applicants are assigned by Student Services Department based on campus availability and must meet transfer requirements; placements may be revoked if attendance or discipline standards are not met.

Pre-kindergarten applications will be accepted online through Avela—parents no longer need campus visits—and documents can be uploaded via the platform. Kindergarten Roundup and Pre-K Roundup events will take place throughout April and May.
