Midland Independent School District recognized on May 8 a group of 387 teachers who have received Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designations, awarding more than $3.8 million in payouts across the district.
The recognition is part of Midland ISD’s ongoing effort to reward highly effective educators and support student achievement through strategic compensation programs. The Teacher Incentive Allotment, established by the Texas Education Agency, allows teachers to earn Recognized, Exemplary, or Master designations based on strong instructional practices and measurable student growth.
District leaders marked the occasion with a Big Check Bus Tour, delivering oversized checks to campuses and celebrating teachers who earned TIA designations. Approximately 60 Midland ISD teachers are now earning over $100,000 annually through a combination of district compensation and TIA earnings.
“Our teachers are doing extraordinary work in classrooms throughout Midland ISD, and this recognition celebrates the impact they are making on students every single day,” said Dr. Stephanie Howard, Midland ISD Superintendent. “We are committed to ensuring Midland ISD is a place where great teachers are recognized, supported, and rewarded for excellence. This work is helping us recruit and retain outstanding educators while improving student outcomes.”
Campuses held surprise presentations for designated teachers with applause from staff and students as well as acknowledgment from district leaders. The celebrations highlighted continued investment in educator development within the district.
Midland ISD has expanded its local TIA system to give more teachers opportunities for designation and increased pay based on classroom impact. “We will continue expanding our strategic compensation model to ensure we take full advantage of funding available from the state to invest in excellence,” said Howard.
The district maintains that investing in educators remains central to improving student outcomes and strengthening schools.
