Eight student-athletes from Legacy High School and six from Midland High School signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level, according to a statement released by Midland Independent School District on April 15. The event marked the final district-wide signing day of the year and included students from several sports.
National Signing Day is an important milestone for high school athletes, as it represents years of commitment both in athletics and academics. Families, teammates, coaches, and campus leaders gathered to honor the achievements of these students.
Executive Director of Athletics Wes Torres said, “I am very proud of all of our signees. Watching our student-athletes sign to compete at the collegiate level validates the years of discipline and grit poured into our programs.”
Keondre Garnett from Midland Senior High School, who will attend Mary Hardin-Baylor, reflected on what this opportunity means for him: “The opportunity means everything to me and represents my dedication not only to my sport but also to academics.” Many other signees expressed gratitude for their parents, coaches, and teammates who supported them throughout their journey.
