Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) issued a statement following the death of Charlie Kirk, who was killed in what has been described as an act of political violence. Pfluger expressed condolences and recalled his time working with Kirk on the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.

“Camille and I are mourning the tragic loss of Charlie Kirk, who was murdered in a horrific act of political violence. Charlie was a loving father, devoted husband, and dear friend. I had the privilege of serving alongside him on the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors this year, inspiring the next generation of servicemembers together. I will never forget his charisma and energy to inspire young Americans. He was a true warrior for free speech in everything he did, even for those who disagreed with him. Political violence is from the pit of hell and has no place in this country. My heart aches for the Kirk family as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Please join me in lifting his family and our entire nation up in prayer.”

August Pfluger has represented Texas’ 11th district in Congress since 2021 after replacing Mike Conaway.

In 2020, Pfluger won election to Congress by defeating Jon Mark Hogg with nearly 80% of the vote.
