Congressman August Pfluger, who represents Texas’ 11th district and serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, recently wrote an opinion piece in The Washington Times criticizing the Biden-Harris Administration’s energy policies. He argued that these policies have negatively impacted American families and workers by increasing energy prices and weakening the electric grid.

“Energy fuels every aspect of modern life. It powers our homes, fuels our vehicles, and drives our innovation. From the most routine parts of our daily lives to the backbone of our economy, affordable and abundant energy is essential,” Pfluger stated.

Pfluger emphasized his experience representing what he called “America’s most prolific oil and gas producing region.” He highlighted the need for policy that supports energy independence through reduced regulation and support for industry workers.

He contrasted this approach with what he described as four years of “disastrous energy policies” under President Biden. According to Pfluger, these measures prioritized environmental interests over economic concerns: “In stark contrast to these goals, the Biden-Harris Administration spent four years implementing disastrous energy policies that pandered to woke environmental extremists over the needs of everyday American families and workers. These policies drove up energy prices and led to a weakened electric grid that has jeopardized Americans’ safety and security.”

With Republicans now holding a majority in Congress and Donald Trump back in office, Pfluger pointed to recent legislative action as evidence of change. “The most tangible way we have done this was by passing the Working Families Tax Cut package. This transformational legislation is a massive win for hardworking Texans back home in my state and all across the country. It supports a pro-growth, pro-worker, pro-family, pro-business, and pro-energy economy. It implements President Trump’s energy dominance agenda, serving as yet another example of ‘promises-made, promises-kept’ from this administration and congressional Republicans,” he said.

August Pfluger has represented Texas’s 11th District since 2021 after replacing Mike Conaway in Congress. In 2020, he won his seat by defeating Jon Mark Hogg with nearly 80% of the vote.
