Rep. August Pfluger, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 11th district, addressed several issues in a series of posts on his social media account in early October 2025, including the ongoing government shutdown, the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, and his engagement with local constituents.
On October 6, 2025, Pfluger warned about the potential impact of the government shutdown on federal employees in Texas, stating, “218,000 federal employees in Texas will be furloughed if Democrats don’t end this reckless government shutdown. Let me be clear: Senate Democrats can prevent this if they pass the clean CR that they have already supported 13 times in the past.”
The following day, Pfluger marked the second anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel with a statement condemning the violence and antisemitism. He wrote on October 7, 2025, “Two years ago today, Hamas launched a barbaric and unprovoked assault on Israel, slaughtering innocent men, women, and children, then parading their victims’ bodies through the streets in celebration. This evil cannot stand, and antisemitism must be outright condemned and https://t.co/APtRaK2oHJ”
On October 8, 2025, Pfluger described his activities in his district during the shutdown, posting, “While Democrats hold the government hostage, I am traveling through Texas-11 to serve my constituents this week. Today, I had the privilege to meet with local leaders in Kimble County for a productive conversation. A huge thank you to Lum’s BBQ for allowing us to use their space https://t.co/ETgdadOKK0”
Pfluger has represented Texas’s 11th District in Congress since 2021, succeeding Mike Conaway. He won his seat in 2020 by a significant margin, defeating Jon Mark Hogg with nearly 80% of the vote. Pfluger’s recent statements reflect ongoing partisan debate over federal funding and highlight his continued engagement with both national and local issues.
