Rep. August Pfluger, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 11th district since 2021, shared updates on social media regarding notable events and policy concerns in August 2025.
On August 13, Pfluger congratulated a well-known musician, stating, “Congratulations to country music legend and Texan @GeorgeStrait for being named a 2025 Kennedy Center Honors nominee by @POTUS!” The recognition of George Strait as a Kennedy Center Honors nominee highlights the ongoing influence of Texas artists in national cultural affairs.
Later that day, Pfluger reflected on an event he attended with a senior military official. He wrote on August 13, “I had the honor of welcoming General Dan Caine, the 22nd Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to the West Texas Legislative Summit a few weeks ago. As Chairman, General Caine serves as the highest-ranking officer in the United States Armed Forces and the principal military” The West Texas Legislative Summit often features prominent speakers addressing regional and national issues.
On August 14, Pfluger addressed environmental regulation impacting energy production in his district. He posted: “The Biden Administration’s U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service weaponized the Endangered Species Act to target American energy production in the Permian Basin, using species like the Lesser Prairie Chicken as one of their tools. This week, a district court confirmed what we’ve been” This comment reflects ongoing debates over federal environmental policy and its effects on local industries such as oil and gas extraction in regions like West Texas.
August Pfluger was elected to Congress after defeating Jon Mark Hogg in the 2020 general election by a significant margin (79.7% to 18.3%). He succeeded Mike Conaway as representative for Texas’s 11th District.
