Rep. August Pfluger, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 11th district since 2021, addressed constituents and commented on the looming government shutdown in a series of posts on his official social media account.
On September 30, 2025, Pfluger thanked attendees at a recent event and referenced the potential for a government shutdown: “Thank you to everyone who attended our town hall in Sterling City today! As the Democrat-led government shutdown looms, I am thankful I was able to answer your questions. It is always an honor to represent the great people of Sterling City in Washington!” He posted this message following a town hall meeting held in Sterling City.
Shortly after midnight on October 1, Pfluger criticized Democratic leadership with another post: “Once again, Democrats are putting Americans last.”
Later that day, he elaborated further on his stance regarding the budget impasse: “Last night, Senate Democrats chose to force a reckless government shutdown. Meanwhile, Republicans voted to keep the government OPEN and working for the American people. It’s time for Democrats to put partisan politics aside and do the right thing.”
August Pfluger has represented Texas’s 11th District since replacing Mike Conaway in Congress in 2021. In his initial election victory in 2020, he won decisively against Jon Mark Hogg with nearly 80% of the vote.
