Rep. August Pfluger, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 11th district since 2021, used his social media platform on November 3 and 4, 2025, to criticize Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown and its effects on American families and critical sectors.

In a post dated November 3, Rep. Pfluger alleged that the shutdown was enabling foreign influence in the pharmaceutical sector: “As if the Democrats’ reckless government shutdown wasn’t hurting American families enough – now a foreign company is weaponizing it to dodge FTC oversight and expand its position in our domestic pharmaceutical sector through an unchecked acquisition. Later that day, he addressed the impact on air travel during a peak season: “As the busiest travel season of the year takes off, air traffic controllers and TSA Agents are being forced to work without pay – all because Democrats refuse to reopen the government. On November 4, Rep. Pfluger further commented on what he described as Democratic obstruction: “As Democrats continue to hold the government hostage, American families are suffering. August Pfluger has represented Texas’s 11th District in Congress since succeeding Mike Conaway in 2021. He won his seat after defeating Jon Mark Hogg in 2020 by a significant margin—securing nearly 80% of votes cast.
