Texas Tech University System issued the following announcement on March 17.
Angelo State University is postponing its commencement ceremonies, in line with the CDC's recommendation to limit gatherings.
Following the CDC's guidance that no gatherings of 50-plus people be hosted during the next 8 weeks, the May commencement ceremonies are postponed, a release from the college states.
Angelo State will confer degrees and mail diplomas in May, and the university plans to invite May and summer graduates to walk the stage in August.
A date will be announced within the next week, the university said.
"We understand this is an unprecedented situation and regret having to make this decision. However, health and safety of the Ram Family are of top priority," the university noted.
