Cost of college went up for all students at Midland College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.4 percent for 2018-19 at Midland College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $4,290 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $60 more than the $4,230 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 29.4 percent more than residents this year, or $5,550. Their price tag grew 1.1 percent from $5,490 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. About 4 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 62 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 336 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.7 million and 15 students took out student loans totaling more than $54,628.

Including all undergraduates (5,452), 3,407 students used grants or scholarships totaling $9.2 million, and 183 students took out $1.3 million in federal student loans.
