Cost of college went up for all students at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin

In-state tuition and fees rose 8.3 percent for 2018-19 at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $6,260 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $478 more than the $5,782 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 13.4 percent more than residents this year, or $7,100. Their price tag grew 7.2 percent from $6,622 in 2017-18.

About 93 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. About 3 percent are residents of other states and 3 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 364 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.9 million and 171 students took out student loans totaling more than $944,291.

Including all undergraduates (5,834), 2,395 students used grants or scholarships totaling $14.7 million, and 1,471 students took out $10 million in federal student loans.
