There were 26,398 students enrolled in Midland ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 3.2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.4% of them were boys, and 48.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 65% of the Midland ISD total enrollment.

Midland ISD roughly covers schools within Midland County with its main office in Midland.

Among the 41 schools in Midland ISD, Legacy High School recorded the highest enrollment of 2,339 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
