WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman August Pfluger has shown his support for Israel by voting in favor of H.R. 6126, the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act. The bill aims to provide military assistance to Israel in order to ensure the safe return of American citizens affected by the recent attacks on the country.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas, which began with an unprovoked terrorist attack on October 7th, has resulted in numerous casualties and has left over 200 people still being held hostage by Hamas. In response to this, Congressman Pfluger believes that it is crucial to provide Israel with the necessary resources to defend its citizens against acts of terror and aggression.

Speaking about his vote, Congressman Pfluger stated, “In the face of terrorism and anti-Jewish hate around the world, I am proud to support sending essential resources to our ally, Israel, in response to the horrific terror attacks orchestrated by Hamas. Israel has the inherent right to defend its citizens from acts of terror and aggression. This legislation underscores our unwavering commitment to Israel's security and sends a powerful message that we will not tolerate acts of terror against our allies.”

The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act includes provisions to reinforce Israeli defense systems. This includes an allocation of $4 billion to replenish the Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems, as well as $1.2 billion for the Iron Beam defense system to counter short-range rockets and mortar threats. Additionally, the bill provides $3.5 billion for the procurement of advanced weapons systems, defense articles, and defense services through the Foreign Military Financing Program. Furthermore, $1 billion will be allocated to enhance the production and development of artillery and critical munitions.

It is important to note that the bill also ensures that the support provided to Israel does not compromise U.S. readiness. To achieve this, $4.4 billion will be provided to replenish defense articles and defense services that have been given to Israel.

The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act also addresses the protection of U.S. personnel and the evacuation of American citizens. The bill includes $200 million specifically for these purposes, with $150 million allocated for enhanced embassy security and protection for U.S. personnel, and $50 million for emergency evacuations of American citizens.

Congressman Pfluger's vote for the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act solidifies the United States' commitment to the security and well-being of its ally, Israel. By providing essential resources and military assistance, the U.S. sends a strong message that acts of terror against its allies will not be tolerated.
