WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) has officially announced the start of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. This competition is open to all 7-12 grade students in the 11th Congressional District of Texas, providing a platform for local artists to showcase their talents alongside peers from across the nation. Submissions will be accepted until April 29th, 2024.
According to Congressman Pfluger's office, the winning student's artwork will be prominently displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for a period of one year. The unveiling of the art will take place during a Congressional Reception in Washington, DC in late June. Winners, along with one guest, will be invited to attend the event.
The theme for this year's competition is American Patriotism. Artwork must be two-dimensional and original in concept, design, and execution. The dimensions of the artwork cannot exceed 26 inches in height, 26 inches in width, and 4 inches in depth. Various mediums are accepted, including paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photographs.
