U.S. Representative August Pfluger (TX-11) has expressed his support for the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The decision to impeach Secretary Mayorkas comes after a comprehensive investigation carried out by the House Homeland Security Committee into the implications of the crisis at the southern border.

According to Rep. August Pfluger, Secretary Mayorkas deserved to be impeached due to the concerning statistics surrounding illegal immigration under his watch. Pfluger stated, "9 million illegal aliens have entered our country since President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas took office, including 300 people who match the terror watch list." Pfluger drew a parallel between the number of individuals entering the country and the 9/11 attacks, emphasizing the potential risks associated with unvetted individuals entering the United States.

Pfluger criticized Mayorkas for his alleged failure to enforce existing immigration laws, stating, "Secretary Mayorkas is allowing millions of unvetted individuals into our country by refusing to enforce the laws on the books." He expressed concern that this approach not only constitutes a systemic refusal to follow the law but also undermines the rule of law itself. Pfluger argued that such actions could have a detrimental impact on the country in the long run, saying, "It's also the systemic deconstruction of the rule of law that eventually will eat away at this country."

The representative from Texas highlighted the gravity of the situation at the border and the need for accountability, stating, "It is a sad day when Congress is left with no options but to impeach a Cabinet Secretary, but House Republicans will deliver accountability for the national security crisis at our border."
