2021-22 School Year: What was most represented ethnicity in Ward County County schools?

Of the many ethnicities represented in Ward County County schools, Hispanic was the most prevalent ethnicity among Ward County County students in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 2,310 students attending Ward County County schools, 62.3% were Hispanic. White students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 31.8% of Ward County County students.

In the previous school year, Hispanic students still were the most common group in Ward County County, representing 62.8% of the student body.

Sudderth Elementary School and Tatom Elementary School had the most diverse student body in Ward County County, including white, American Indian, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, and Multi-racial.

In the 2021-22 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county increased 1.8% when compared to the previous year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
