Congressman August Pfluger, along with Congressman Jodey Arrington and Tracey Mann, introduced a Congressional Review Act aiming to overturn the Biden administration's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) methane regulations. Rep. Pfluger expressed concerns about the impact of the regulations on energy producers, stating, "This Methane Rule imposes excessive and costly restrictions on energy producers in regions like the Permian Basin."

Rep. Arrington criticized President Biden's energy policies, labeling them as a threat to national security and the economy. He highlighted the negative consequences of the Methane Rule, emphasizing that it would increase energy prices and jeopardize jobs in the industry. Rep. Mann echoed these sentiments, stating, "Americans are paying for President Biden’s failed energy policies," and emphasized the detrimental effects the rule would have on energy producers and consumers.

Ben Shepperd, President of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association, commended the efforts of congressional members in attempting to reverse the damaging effects of the administration's policies. He criticized the Methane Rule as poorly crafted and predicted it would result in inflationary pressures without providing any environmental benefits.

Jeff Eshelman, President and CEO of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, expressed support for using the Congressional Review Act to address the regulatory issues. He highlighted the disproportionate impact of the regulations on small oil and natural gas wells and the lack of consideration for the concerns raised by industry stakeholders.

The resolution in the U.S. House is cosponsored by several representatives, including Mike Collins, Chip Roy, Mary Miller, Lance Gooden, Doug Lamborn, John Moolenaar, Lauren Boebert, and David Rouzer. A companion resolution is set to be introduced in the Senate by Senators Roger Marshall and Steve Daines.
