Today, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) issued a statement following the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, aimed at protecting U.S. elections.

"The integrity of our election system is at risk due to lax voter registration laws and President Biden’s wide-open border that has allowed nearly 10 million illegal aliens into this country," said Pfluger. "The SAVE Act ensures that only American citizens can vote in the U.S. by requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration while empowering states to clean up their voter rolls. If you can’t provide documentation that you are an American citizen, you should not be able to vote – period."

This legislation comes amid concerns over illegal immigrants being given the opportunity to register to vote in New York, Washington, D.C., and areas of California. Congressman Pfluger's recent legislation to prevent noncitizens from voting in Washington, D.C., passed the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support.
