There were 3,510 students enrolled in Big Spring ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.6% of them were boys, and 48.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 68% of the Big Spring ISD total enrollment.

Big Spring ISD roughly covers schools within Howard County with its main office in Big Spring.

Among the eight schools in Big Spring ISD, Big Spring High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,084 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
