There were 658 white students enrolled in Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.9% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD schools welcomed 2,197 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 29.9% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD roughly covers schools within Ward County and has a main office in Monahans.

Among the six schools in Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD schools, Sudderth Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 198 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
