MIDLAND – Shirley Jean Erwin, 89, departed this life on the morning of July 31, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on April 8, 1935, in Pecos, Texas, to Marie and Buck Jackson. Erwin is survived by her three sons, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sister, Patsy Bowles.

Erwin met and married Ronald Erwin after graduating from Texas Western University, UTEP, and they had a fulfilling 63-year marriage before his passing in 2021. She received her Master’s Degree in Education and taught in various Texas schools before retiring. Erwin was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and was involved in the Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

A celebration of Erwin's life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Midland, Texas. The family will welcome friends at a reception following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
