(Midland) - Autry Carl Stephens, a prominent figure in the petroleum industry and a respected community member, passed away on August 16, 2024, in Midland, Texas, at the age of 86 after bravely battling cancer. Born on March 8, 1938, in DeLeon, Texas, Autry grew up and worked on the family farm, later pursuing a successful career in petroleum engineering.

Autry's professional journey included significant contributions to the oil and gas sector, culminating in the founding of Endeavor Energy Resources, LP in 2000. His dedication and entrepreneurial spirit not only shaped his career but also provided employment opportunities for many in the Midland area, impacting the local community positively.

Throughout his life, Autry valued hard work, commitment, and family. He received numerous accolades and honors for his achievements in the industry, including being recognized by The University of Texas at Austin, the Hart Energy Hall of Fame, and the Permian Basin Petroleum Association. Autry's legacy will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on August 23, 2024, at The Branch at Nalley-Pickle & Welch in Midland, with a private family burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charitable organizations like the Humane Society of Midland County or High Sky Children's Ranch.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
