Midland, Texas - Mitchell Henson Hicks, aged 33, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at his home in Midland, Texas, surrounded by his family after bravely battling cancer. Born on January 7, 1991, in Abilene, Texas, Mitchell grew up in Tuscola and was a beloved member of the community.

A graduate of Jim Ned High School and Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mitchell excelled in his career in the oil and gas industry. At the time of his passing, Mitchell worked as an independent Frac Consultant with 3R Petroleum Consultants, having previously been employed by Earthstone Energy. He was well-respected in West Texas and formed lasting friendships with many throughout his career.

Described as intelligent, funny, loyal, and kind, Mitchell lived life passionately, enjoying music, dancing, traveling, hunting, and spending time with friends. He took pride in his roots, cherishing his small town upbringing, education at Texas Tech, and the Hicks family name. Mitchell deeply loved his family and friends and embraced life to the fullest extent.

Mitchell is survived by his parents Billy and Ann Hicks, his girlfriend Jessica Hattaway, brothers Michael and Marty Hicks, sisters Misty Mullins, Mandy Corcorran, and their families. He is preceded in death by his sister Denni June Hicks and his grandparents. Honorary pallbearers include close friends and family members.

In honor of Mitchell, memorial donations can be made to Interim Healthcare and Hospice, First Presbyterian Church, or a preferred charity. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, with a celebration of life to follow at Rusty Bucket BBQ and Tavern. Services are under the care of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences can be shared at www.npwelch.com.
