Midland, Texas - Dr. Alton Benton Hankins Jr., a dedicated physician and psychiatrist, passed away peacefully at his home in Midland, TX, on September 19, 2024. Dr. Hankins, born on December 3, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, devoted over four decades to the field of psychiatry, leaving a lasting impact on his patients and the mental health community.

Dr. Hankins is survived by his son, daughter, grandchildren, and beloved cat Izzy Mae Hankins. He was recognized for his commitment to mental health advocacy and education, serving on various professional boards and associations to support individuals with mental health challenges.

A viewing and visitation for Dr. Hankins will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at The Branch at NPW in Midland, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations to mental health and suicide prevention organizations are encouraged. Dr. Hankins' legacy of compassion and dedication to his patients will continue to be remembered.
