Midland - Elfida Venegas de Hernández, 89, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in Midland, Texas. She was born on October 11, 1934, in La Esmeralda Ojinaga, Chihuahua to the late Feliciano Venegas and Paula Carillo. Elfida was known for her joyous spirit, love of dancing, and keeping her patio clean, despite her inability to speak or hear. She was described as a cheerful and intelligent person.

Elfida is preceded in death by her late husband, Atanacio Ray, son Javier H. Venegas, and three brothers, Apolinar, Natividad, and Eladio Venegas. She is survived by her daughter Ana Lujan Venegas of Midland, TX, son Luis Carlos H. Venegas of Odessa, TX, brother Nicolas Venegas of La Esmeralda, 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all from Midland and Odessa, TX.

Visitation for Elfida Venegas de Hernández will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Funeraria Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin, 2508 N Big Spring, Midland, TX. Funeral services will be held in La Esmeralda Ojinaga, Chihuahua, where she will be laid to rest.
