McKinney, TX - Beryl Jean Pruden, 94, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in McKinney, Texas. Born on July 7, 1929, in Commerce, Texas, to Thomas David Anders and Ruby Anders, Jean graduated from Miller Grove High School and obtained a BS degree in education from East Texas University.

On July 7, 1950, Jean married Leonard Lavern Pruden in Commerce, sharing 74 years of marriage. Jean worked as a classroom teacher and special education teacher for 29 years, serving in various Texas towns before retiring in Spring Lake Earth.

An avid gardener, seamstress, and quilter, Jean was actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star and a dedicated member of Crestview Baptist Church in Midland.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather, brother, sister, and grandson, Jean is survived by her children David Pruden, James Pruden, and Patricia Ray, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 6-8 PM. Correction: The funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 10 AM at Ellis Funeral Home, followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers have been listed accordingly.
