Shirley Byrom, Devoted Family Matriarch, Fondly Remembered

Midland, Texas - Shirley Byrom, affectionately known as "Mamaw," passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, surrounded by her family. While she lived most of her life in Midland, Texas, Shirley always held dear her South Dakota roots, enjoying visits with family and indulging in casino adventures. Her love for slot machines carried her to various locations, seeking the thrill of a big win.

Above all else, Shirley cherished her family. Attending every milestone, she exuded unconditional love and support for her loved ones. Her warm embrace was always present, and her home was a sanctuary for gatherings over her beloved chicken n' dumplings and chili. Shirley's legacy lives on as her family reminisces on shared stories and laughter around her table.

Preceded in death by her parents, sisters, former husband Wayne Helms, Sr., husband Fred Byrom, and son Wayne Helms, Jr., Shirley is survived by her siblings, daughter-in-law Tonya Helms, granddaughters Shellie and Tasha with their husbands Cody Crossland and Joel Ramos, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A public visitation for Shirley will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass will take place on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Joel Ramos, Cody Crossland, Xavier Ramirez, Joe Ramirez, Brady Peterson, and Greg Thomas.
