After graduating from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Jack returned to his hometown to work in the oil business. His career ranged from managing the Wilco Building to ranching, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Jack had a passion for mentoring those closest to him and had the innate ability to forge connections with everyone he encountered.
Jack's true love was his wife, Terry, to whom he was deeply devoted. Their partnership enriched his life, and they found joy in traveling together, exploring all seven continents. Photo safaris in Africa held a special place in their hearts, reflecting their shared sense of adventure and love for the natural world.
A proud Texan through and through, Jack cherished his home in west Texas as well as the lakes in the Texas Hill Country. An accomplished water skier, he passed on his love for the sport to his children and friends, showcasing his skills by barefoot skiing in his youth. Jack was a natural entertainer, known for his quick wit and sense of humor, traits that endeared him to many.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia McEntire Wilkinson and Jack Benjamin Wilkinson, Sr., and his cousin Ruth (Tootles) McEntire Caldwell. He is survived by his wife Teresa (Terry) Durkin Wilkinson, his cousin June Cowden, his children Amy Wilkinson Doherty (and husband David), Virginia Wilkinson Allen (and husband Cody), and Katherine Wilkinson Barbolla (and husband Craig), as well as his grandchildren Wilkinson, Joseph, Isabel, Elliott, Jack Benjamin, Teresa (Reese), Bradley, and Scott.
A private burial service will be held, with a celebration of life to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Wilkinson Behavioral Health Fund at Midland Memorial Hospital or a charity of choice. The family expresses gratitude to Beth Saunders, Patty Cooper, and Christina Reyes for their unwavering dedication to Jack. A celebration of life will take place at the family home on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
