Aurora, affectionately known as "Bonnie," bid farewell to this world and reunites with her cherished family of angels in heaven. In her youth, Aurora united in marriage with her beloved husband Robert Duran on March 20th, 1967, embarking on a shared journey raising their three sons, Richard, Roman, and Michael Paul.
The heart and soul of the Duran family, Aurora found her greatest joy in uniting the family in love and unity. A devoted mother of three, a grandmother of eight, and a great-grandmother of five, she brought warmth and love to each generation with her nurturing spirit.
Aurora's vibrancy, strength, and timeless love remain etched in the heart of her family. Her character was a blend of strength, grace, and unwavering devotion, leaving an indelible impression on those who knew her. Always the heart of the family, Aurora's knack for bringing joy and laughter was second nature.
In addition to her familial role, Aurora's creative spirit shone through. Gifted in crafting and sewing, she delighted in preparing Halloween outfits for her grandchildren and crafting holiday wreaths. Her nurturing aura extended beyond her family circle to embrace all with her kindness and generosity, creating a room filled with warmth and comfort.
Full of life and zeal, Aurora enjoyed overcoming challenges with her strong will and sharp mind, always emerging victorious. Her legacy of love, fortitude, and wisdom remains an everlasting beacon of light for her family, who she lifted with her enduring love and compassion.
Aurora will be dearly missed by her surviving family, including her sons and their spouses: Richard (Alma) Duran, Roman (Michelle) Duran, Michael Paul (Leah) Duran; her grandchildren: Courtney, Anthony, Noah, Camry, Josh, Caden, Trinity Olivia, and Caleb her great-grandchildren: Harper, Sloane, Alasia, and Finley ; her siblings and their spouses: Rudy (Mona) Velarde, Randy (Jeanie) Velarde, Anna Velarde (Javier Contreras), and Catherine (Eric) Contreras; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Aurora was preceded in death by her parents, Elias (Lee) and Olivia Velarde, and her great-granddaughter, GraceLynn Rose.
Aurora, with her unwavering love and everlasting spirit, will continue to guide her family with love and protection, forever watching over them from above.
Visitation to honor Aurora's memory will be held at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation will take place on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Heavenly Gate Funeral Home.
A Funeral service commemorating Aurora's life will follow on Friday afternoon, December 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Midland.
