There were 56 Hispanic students enrolled in Borden County school in the 2021-22 school year, 36.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Borden County welcomed 245 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic comprised 22.9% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the county.

Borden County School was the only school in the county which enrolled Hispanic students, welcoming 245 in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
