Congressman August Pfluger from Texas has introduced his first piece of legislation for the 119th Congress. The bill, named the Protecting American Energy Production Act, aims to prevent any federal moratorium on hydraulic fracturing, a method used in energy production.
Pfluger stated, "The Biden Administration has spent the last four years attacking the American energy industry, most recently attempting to shut it down by banning almost all new U.S. offshore drilling projects." He emphasized that it is up to Republicans and President Trump to restore American energy independence and dominance during this Congress session. Pfluger added that his legislation would protect thousands of jobs in Texas's 11th district and across the country.
According to Pfluger, President Biden's recent policies have been detrimental to the energy sector and counterproductive to national interests. He believes these actions contradict the public's mandate for reducing costs, boosting domestic production and manufacturing, and enhancing national security.
The Permian Basin in Pfluger's district played a significant role in the shale revolution through fracking and horizontal drilling techniques. Congressman Pfluger expressed his commitment to defending the American energy industry in Congress while supporting President Trump's pro-energy agenda. This includes opening leasing on public lands both onshore and offshore, repealing natural gas taxes, authorizing new LNG export facilities for international allies, holding polluters accountable, ending electric vehicle mandates, and reducing regulations to facilitate infrastructure development.
