Congressman August Pfluger and Senator Ted Cruz have introduced the Natural Gas Tax Repeal Act, aiming to eliminate a tax on natural gas established under President Biden's administration. The proposed legislation seeks to alleviate financial burdens on Texans and Americans nationwide by striking down the tax included in the Inflation Reduction Act.

Congressman Pfluger criticized President Biden's energy policies, stating, "President Biden has spent the past four years pandering to progressive climate activists — pushing legislation that has crippled the American energy industry." He emphasized his collaboration with Senator Cruz in reintroducing this bill as a stand against the natural gas tax.

Senator Cruz also voiced concerns about the current administration's climate agenda, asserting that it has negatively impacted inflation, jobs, and energy security. He stated, "Joe Biden's administration has prioritized an extreme climate agenda over the needs of Americans."

The repeal of this tax is supported by several American energy groups. Ben Shepperd from the Permian Basin Petroleum Association remarked on its potential benefits for global natural gas demand and sensible energy policies. Anne Bradbury from the American Exploration & Production Council highlighted its importance for maintaining competitive American energy production.

Greg Sindelar of the Texas Public Policy Foundation criticized methane emissions taxation as harmful to U.S. energy production. Karr Ingham from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers expressed support for repealing what he described as a damaging tax on domestic oil and gas industries.

Tim Stewart of the US Oil & Gas Association warned about potential impacts on consumers if this tax remains. Amanda Eversole from API advocated for repealing policies like this tax to support affordable energy solutions.

Erik Milito from NOIA noted that Congressman Pfluger's bill could help reduce inflationary impacts and provide economic relief across America.
