Midland - James Albert Tompkins, 81, of Midland, Texas, passed away on January 19, 2025. Known for his passion for football, baseball, and music, James was described as sociable and friendly. Born on September 30, 1943, he graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1962 and enjoyed a successful career in the oil industry, notably at Drillco, Marco Steel, and Trident.

James also shared his musical talents with various bands and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He is survived by his wife Faye, sister, niece, sister-in-law, friends, and cherished pets. Preceding him in death are his parents and stepchildren.
