Midland, Texas - Gene Odom, aged 94, of Midland, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Born on June 15, 1930, in Crosbyton, Texas, to Hallie Price Whited and Barney Henderson Odom, Gene was a remarkable family man who devoted himself to his beloved wife Billie, whom he married on July 17, 1949. His love extended to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Known for his intelligence and teaching abilities, Gene shared his knowledge generously, leaving a legacy of living life to the fullest without regrets. His profound sense of humor, quick-witted remarks, and love for working on challenging crossword puzzles brought joy and laughter into the lives of his family. Gene's career at Precision Pump and Compressor, which he co-founded out of a pickup truck, saw him retire at 90 years young. He specialized in designing and building oil field equipment that spanned across the globe, with his work a testament to his passion and commitment.

The employees at Precision Pump and Compressor considered Gene family, showing care and respect for him, much as he did for them. The outpouring of stories and memories from those who knew Gene reaffirms the lasting impact he had on others, preserving his memory for future generations.

Gene is mourned by his children, Diane Montag and Ron Odom, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his wife Billie McClendon Odom and grandson Paul Raven.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, followed by a chapel service at 2:00 PM, offering an opportunity to celebrate and remember the life of Gene Odom.
