Midland, Texas - Roddy Duane Hughes, aged 60, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at Midland Memorial Hospital under Hospice care. Born on February 20, 1964, in Lufkin, Texas, to Sheirran and Bobby Hughes, Roddy's life was filled with a sense of adventure, travel, and deep connections with those he loved.

After marrying his beloved wife, Brookie Lee Hughes, in 1984, Roddy dedicated himself to their family. Over the years, his career in the oilfield took them to various cities, teaching his children Brandy and Justin valuable life lessons of kindness, independence, and strength. Roddy retired as the Assistant Division Manager from Plains Pipeline in 2016 after a fulfilling journey in the oil industry.

Known for his skills on the golf course and affinity for gambling, Roddy's vibrant personality left a lasting impact on all who knew him. A devoted father, he encouraged his children to pursue their dreams and helped them succeed along the way. Roddy's passion for travel and adventure saw him and Lee embark on many memorable trips, whether cruising the seas or trying his luck at the casinos in Las Vegas.

Roddy is survived by his loving wife, Brookie Lee Hughes, children Brandy and Justin, and grandchildren Brooklee and Cohen. He is also remembered by his siblings Lisa Roberson, David Hughes, Monette Harbert, and their families. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Roddy's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Ellis Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow on Monday, February 3, 2025. In honor of Roddy, donations can be made to MASA Rescue, Breaking Bread Kitchen, or a charity of choice.

Roddy Duane Hughes will forever be celebrated for his generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His vibrant spirit will be dearly missed.
