Congressman August Pfluger recently appeared on "Mornings with Maria" to discuss the House's approval of his proposed legislation, the Protecting American Energy Production Act. The bill aims to counteract what Pfluger describes as an assault on American energy over the past four years.
"I'll start with this bill, the Protecting American Energy Act, my bill, which is really our first step, Congress's first step in reversing Biden's war on energy," said Rep. Pfluger during the interview. He emphasized that a robust and affordable energy sector is essential for economic growth and bringing manufacturing back to the United States.
The act was passed with bipartisan support in the House, including votes from 16 Democrats. Pfluger expressed hope that it will be considered by the Senate. He highlighted that a significant aspect of reconciliation involves ensuring lease sales on federal lands and offshore areas while pursuing deregulation to stimulate economic growth.
Pfluger also addressed budget legislation priorities in the House, advocating for increased defense spending and extending tax cuts initiated under President Trump. "We do need to increase defense spending. We do need to extend his tax cuts," he stated. He stressed that any fiscal measures should aim at reducing deficits and demonstrating fiscal responsibility to bond markets.
As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Congressman Pfluger represents a major oil- and gas-producing region in America. His recent legislative efforts include introducing bills aimed at repealing President Biden's natural gas tax and supporting former President Trump's pro-energy policies.
Pfluger's commitment extends beyond legislation; he has actively participated in various subcommittee hearings focused on energy issues and technological leadership in wireless technology.
