Midland, Feb. 9, 2025 - Kenneth Wayne Garlitz, a beloved figure in Midland, passed away on February 9, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 11, 1946, in Jesup, Georgia, Ken's legacy as a dedicated educator and community member will be fondly remembered.

Ken's journey began in Balmorhea, Texas, where he excelled in academics and athletics, before serving his country in Germany and Vietnam. Following his military service, he pursued a career in education, enriching the lives of many students as a teacher and coach. Ken's passion for teaching and his commitment to his students earned him recognition as Teacher of the Year at Zavala Middle School.

Survived by his wife Kathy and son Timothy, Ken's memory lives on through his dedication to shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning. His selfless contributions to the community and unwavering support for educational initiatives will be cherished by all who knew him.

A visitation for Ken will be held on Sunday, February 16, and services will take place on Monday, February 17, at Stonegate Fellowship in Midland. The family requests memorial donations be made to Stonegate Missions or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in honor of Ken's passion for mentorship and service.
