Midland, Feb. 13, 2025 - Stanley Richard Johannsen, a cherished resident of Midland, peacefully passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on November 7, 1936, to Arnold and Maxine Johannsen, Stan's life was marked by a deep commitment to service, family, and his community.

A proud US Navy veteran, Stan served his country with honor and dedication, embodying the values of integrity and patriotism throughout his life. He shared a lifelong love with his wife Veretta, and together they raised their daughters Valerie and Shelly, creating a loving and nurturing home.

Stan's career journey included diverse roles from farming to truck driving, fuel business ownership, and trailer transport. He dedicated himself to several community organizations, including the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon, and the Corley Community Club. Stan was known for his love of camping, pitching horseshoes, dancing, and his exceptional popcorn-making skills at community events.

In retirement, Stan and Veretta enjoyed traveling, spending time in the Rio Grande Valley, and embracing new experiences. Their move to Midland brought new opportunities to engage with the community, from volunteering at the ballpark to driving for Enterprise Rental cars. Stan's passion for life, unwavering optimism, and love for his family were evident in every aspect of his being.

Stan leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Veretta, daughter Valerie and husband Jeff Sparks, son-in-law Perry Lewis, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Stan is predeceased by his parents, brother Darryl, sister Barbara, and daughters Tamara and Shelly. The family extends their gratitude for the love and support shown during this difficult time.

Arrangements for the memorial are being managed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland. To honor Stanley Richard Johannsen's memory, donations or tree plantings can be made through the Tribute Store.
