Midland, Feb. 14, 2025 - Jesus Barton Gonzales, 90, of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of February 14, 2025. Born in Mission, Texas to Rafael and Candida Barton Gonzales on July 7, 1934, Jesus was raised and educated in his hometown. On March 2, 1955, he married his beloved wife of 69 years, Sulema Padilla.

Jesus will be fondly remembered for his unwavering faith, devotion to his family, and his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. As a dedicated and hardworking individual, he remained active in the Catholic church throughout his life, serving in the Knights of Columbus and the Cursillo movement. His commitment extended to his 39-year tenure as church sexton at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church until his retirement at the age of 87.

He is mourned by his surviving relatives, including his brother Ralph, brother Jorge, sister Anita, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Jesus was predeceased by his parents Rafael and Candida, siblings Juan, Jesus, and Anita, daughter Rosemary, and his wife Sulema, whom he joined on Valentine's Day.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 19, from 1:00-9:00 p.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
