James “Poppie” Rankin Woolf | Nalley-Pickle & welch Funeral Home & Crematory
Born on December 14, 1942, Poppie married his beloved Carol on February 27, 1970, and was proud to have worked for the City of Odessa for 28 years. He adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, engaging in hobbies such as collecting old cars, playing with toy trains, fixing clocks, and chatting on his CB radios. Poppie's love for old western movies and Elvis Presley was well-known, and he had a heart of gold, always ready with a warm hug and a witty joke to bring smiles and laughter to those around him. Poppie had a knack for connecting with people and had a special place in his heart for waitresses, wishing for a windfall to come his way.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in line with Poppie's spirit, asking, "You got a million bucks?"
Poppie is preceded in death by his parents, G.H. and Noreene Woolf, and granddaughter Kayla Grissom. He is survived by his wife Carol Woolf, son David Woolf, brothers Dee Woolf (Carol) and Charles Woolf (Carolyn), granddaughters Britney Woolf, Sasha McEachern (Drew), great-grandchildren Zoe Woolf, Brynna and Ross McEachern, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In his final sign-off, "Big Bad Woolf 10-7," Poppie leaves behind memories filled with humor, love, and kindness that will forever be cherished.
